摘 要：

The Kronecker theta function is a quotient of the Jacobi theta functions, which plays an important role in number theory and modular functions. Using the Kronecker theta function as building blocks, we prove a decomposition theorem for theta functions. This decomposition theorem is the common source of a large number of theta function identities. Many striking theta function identities, both classical and new, can be derived from this decomposition theorem with ease.

刘治国，华东师范大学数学系教授，博士生导师。主要研究Ramanujan数学，英国皇家学会破格授予“王宽诚皇家学会研究奖学金”，在Advances in Mathematics.， Trans Amer. Math. Soc.等国际期刊发表研究论文60多篇，主持多项国家自然科学基金。
