In the 1960s several authors, including Fadeev and Ikebe, proved an important condition for quantum scattering called asymptotic completeness. This roughly states: what comes in must come out. That is in a scattering problem, your initial state looks like separated particles. They scatter and asymptotic completeness tells us that separated particles come out again (with many caveats). In this talk, I will retell this story for solitons. Solitons are particle-like objects who owe their stability and existence to the topology of the underlying system. To describe asymptotic completeness for solitons I will explain what solitons and quantum solitons are, what quantum soliton scattering is and give many examples to illustrate these ideas. This will naturally lead us to the definition of a Quantum Soliton Scattering Manifold. Having understood this, I will show that some old proposals for describing soliton scattering are unsuitable and propose some new ideas.

Chris Halcrow,英国利兹大学博士后。 2017年在剑桥大学获博士学位,导师为Nick Manton教授。2017-2018年在中科院近物所做博士后,曾获Leverhulme奖学金。Chris对Skyrme孤子中关于vibrational量子化做了突出研究,主要成果发表在JHEP,Phys. Rev. C, Phys. Rev. D and Nucl. Phys. B等期刊上。
